Forest School & Outdoor Learning
Our Forest School sessions here at Kingsweston School offer all learners regular opportunities to develop their confidence and self-esteem through hands on learning experiences in an outdoor natural environment. Forest School is a specialised learning approach that sits within, and compliments the wider context of our school curriculum.
Our trained Forest School Leader will provide a safe, fun and resource rich environment where pupils can develop fine motor skills, pursue individual interests, evaluate risk, explore connections with wildlife and the natural world, work on communication and language skills as well as play and have fun!
We use our sessions to enhance other areas of the national curriculum, by providing real life experiences within related subjects. Science and Geography for example, as well as art and DT.
Every class spends either a morning or afternoon session in the on-site Forest School area or Secret Garden every fortnight. Additional therapeutic session are provided to small groups or individuals who require support with aspects of their social, emotional and mental health.
